Photography is more than just a record. The camera is a tool for my imagination. I use it to connect what I see with what I think. “Learn from nature and find the source of the heart” is still the truth in my understanding of photography. This shoot is a willful depiction of the most valuable and beautiful traditions of China in my mind. I regard the unchanging form of the mountains as the object of my communication with the past world, and in the process of shooting, I experience the emotions and understanding of the mountains by ancient Chinese artists. I hope to point the contingency of photography and the imagination of control to certain evaluation criteria in traditional Chinese aesthetics: “charm” or “naturalness”.
